Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to all bookings for workshops, folio reviews and mentoring sessions with Ian Phillips-McLaren, including gum bichromate, salt printing, cyanotype, and other analogue and alternative processes. Please read before booking.
Film can either be supplied by participants or provided by Ian for an additional charge. Due to current film costs, charges may vary depending on the format and type of film required.
Booking & Payment
To confirm your place, a £100 deposit is required at the time of booking.
The remaining balance is due at least 5 days before your session.
Short-notice bookings (within 7 days of the workshop) must be paid in full upon booking.
What’s Included
All materials, chemistry, and equipment are provided for the duration of your workshop — no need to bring anything unless discussed in advance. If you’d like to bring your own negatives or materials, you’re welcome to do so.
Cancellations & Transfers
If you need to cancel or reschedule, here’s how it works:
14+ days before your session: Full refund or reschedule.
7–13 days before: Non-refundable, but transferable to a future session.
Less than 7 days: I’ll try to fill your place. If I can’t, it’s non-refundable — but you can send someone in your place (just let me know their details).
Within 72 hours: Sorry, no refund or reschedule — but again, feel free to transfer your spot to a friend or colleague.
This policy helps cover the preparation, materials, and time that go into every workshop — and ensures fairness for everyone booking in. Thanks for understanding.
Health & Safety
Participants take part at their own risk. While every care is taken during workshops, I can’t accept responsibility for injury, illness, loss, or damage to personal property.
If you have any health conditions or access needs, please let me know in advance.
Practicing artists and freelancers may wish to have their own public liability insurance, though it’s not essential.
Course Content & Copyright
All teaching materials, handouts, and demonstrations are the intellectual property of Ian Phillips-McLaren. These may not be copied, filmed, recorded, or redistributed without permission. The sessions are for personal learning and development only.
Image Rights
Any photographs or prints you produce during your workshop are entirely yours — you retain full copyright.
If you have any questions at all, just get in touch. I’m always happy to help.
