In The Mist

‘In The Mist’ is a photographic series that delves into the emotions evoked by the forests and mists of my ten year old self, a homage to the transformative experience of uprooting from the bustling streets of Glasgow to the expanse of Ayrshire’s countryside.

This pivotal transition rooted in the vivid memories of a childhood shaped by the contrast between urban familiarity and the mysteries of the forest.

“Each step through the forest instills a sense of apprehension in me, a presence of something bigger and greater than me and that I’m not alone”. As I navigate the woods with my camera, I find myself revisiting that mix of fear and fascination.

‘In The Mist’ reflects not only the current moments of mystery but also echo my memories as a 10-year-old discovering the forest for the first time.

This project is a bridge between my childhood memories and the present – an exploration of how the forest, once an intimidating landscape, has become a source of inspiration and connection. I aim to share the essence of those early experiences, inviting viewers to ponder their own journey from fear to awe in the face of the unknown.
