The ‘Drive By’ series was set in motion after Phillips McLaren impulsively jumped into his car to chase a thunder storm.
From the safety of his car, he pointed his lens through the wet windscreen but the dark brooding clouds and the rain cut available light to near darkness.
In order to capture a sharp usable image he had to set his tripod up awkwardly between his legs and the steering wheel. By shooting through the car windscreen, parts of the interior and exteror of the car were inevitbly creeping into the edges of his frame, rather than cropping them out in post production this became part of the aesthetic for the rest of the project.

“Stunning work. Good grief. A person could live three lifetimes and not make something that nice. Congrats on the hard work paying out.”

“These are hauntingly beautiful images and just spectacular printing”
